The Ocean Lab is Excited to Announce Polar Scholarship Partnership with Blue Green Expeditions

Sending the Next Generation of Ocean Advocates to the Poles

The Ocean Lab is proud to partner with Blue Green Expeditions to launch a new scholarship initiative supporting young science advocates on polar expeditions beginning in 2028. Through hands-on citizen science, expedition-based learning, and direct exposure to the fastest-changing ocean environments on Earth, scholars will return home ready to educate, inspire, and advocate for our polar regions.

The Scholarship Program

Antarctica 2028

The Ocean Lab and Blue Green Expeditions are building a new scholarship pathway to bring emerging ocean advocates into the field, beginning with a 24-day Antarctic expedition in February 2028.

This program is designed to expand access to polar science experiences for young scientists, artists, storytellers, and future conservation leaders who may not otherwise have the opportunity to join an expedition. By supporting this scholarship, donors and partners can help create a new generation of citizen scientists and polar advocates who will return home ready to educate, inspire, and protect our changing oceans.

Boldy go

Apply For A Scholarship!

Are you an emerging ocean advocate, young scientist, artist, storyteller, educator, or conservation leader with a passion for protecting our planet?

The Ocean Lab and Blue Green Expeditions are developing a new polar scholarship opportunity for applicants who are eager to learn in the field, participate in citizen science, and experience one of the most powerful indicators of a changing ocean firsthand.

Selected scholars will have the chance to join an Antarctic expedition, connect with scientists and expedition leaders, and return home with the tools, stories, and perspective to inspire action in their own communities.

Donate to Help Support Young Explorers

our support can help send the next generation of ocean advocates to the polar regions. Through The Ocean Lab and Blue Green Expeditions scholarship program, donors can help emerging scientists, artists, storytellers, educators, and conservation leaders take part in expedition-based learning and citizen science in Antarctica.

These transformational experiences give young scholars the chance to witness a changing ocean firsthand, contribute to polar research, and return home ready to educate, inspire, and advocate for ocean protection in their own communities.

Citizen Science at the Poles

Citizen science is helping expand our understanding of the polar regions. This video highlights how expedition travelers can become active participants in real research — observing, collecting, and supporting data that helps scientists study one of the fastest-changing environments on Earth.

As the Antarctic Peninsula and surrounding Southern Ocean respond to a warming planet, every sample, observation, and field experience helps tell a larger story about climate change, ocean health, and the urgent need for polar advocacy. Through citizen science, travelers are not only witnessing change firsthand — they are helping document it.  Our scholarship recipients will be able to join the expedition.
